Connectors


Os marcadores de discurso (discourse markers), ou conectores (connectors), são as palavras que podem ser usadas para mostrar a relação entre frases, ou parte de uma frase, expressando ideias (sentidos) como de contraste, comparação, causa, efeito, ênfase e adição. Por exemplo:

• Podemos usar “and” para ligar duas frases, estabelecendo sentido de ADIÇÃO.

- There is a library. There is a restaurant.

- There is a library and a restaurant. (Não precisamos repetir o segundo “there is” quando ligamos as frases com “and” – e, em português)

• Para listas de mais de dois elementos, usamos a VÍRGULA (comma) para separar os elementos da lista, e “and” entre os dois últimos.

- There is a library, a store and a bakery.

01. Junte as frases usando “and” corretamente.

02. Marque a frase que usa a vírgula e “and” de forma correta.

03. Use um conector para juntar as frases de acordo com o sentido pretendido entre parênteses.
a) We are very interested in our family history. We have made a family tree. (consequência)
